Getting started

From install to storefront swatches in four steps. Works with Online Store 2.0 themes that support app blocks.

1. Install the AppOpen the App from the Shopify App Store (or your install link) and approve the requested permissions. Launch it from Shopify Admin → Apps. There is no separate merchant username or password—Shopify handles sign-in.
2. Create a product familyIn the embedded app, go to Families → create a family. Pick sibling products (separate product records), set an optional option label, and save. The App creates the family in your Shopify store and syncs linked-product data onto each member.
3. Add the theme app blocksIn the theme editor, open the product template and add Apps → Product Families. Drag it right above Variant picker, then save. The in-app Settings “Add above variant picker” button opens the theme editor with the block staged in the main product section—you may still need to drag it into place on your theme. For collection, search, or featured product grids, open that template, select a product card, then Add block → Apps → Families (card). Card swatches work when your theme’s product cards accept app blocks; if a card does not, product-page swatches still work, and some recommendation sections may still allow the card block. Each block has its own shape and size settings. Linked products are managed by the app automatically (edit families in the app, not the product field by hand).
4. Check the storefrontOpen a family member on the live or preview storefront. You should see sibling swatches. Click through to another member and confirm URLs and inventory stay product-specific. If swatches are missing, use the in-app setup guide or integrity scan, or see the FAQ.

Optional next steps

• Link siblings from a product’s Admin block or with bulk actions on the Families list
• Run an integrity scan if swatches look wrong after catalog imports, or after the app updates how linked products are stored
• On Pro: import/export CSV or generate an API key under Settings → API & CSV (details are in the embedded app help)

Tips

• Families are not variants—each member remains its own product
• Swatch badges (“new”, “limited”): tag the sibling product in Shopify Admin with new or limited (configurable in the theme block). Custom text: use a prefixed tag like swatch:pre-order, or set a product metafield and enter that namespace/key on the block. Labels sit under circular swatches or along the bottom of square ones.
• Free includes up to 5 families; upgrade only if you need more, CSV, or API
• After uninstall, remove leftover family data in Shopify Admin if you no longer need it
